Have you ever wanted to find something you found while surfing, but just can’t find your way back to it. Or have you found something on the web or in someone’s email and wanted to make a quick note of it. Now there’s a way that I just love.

It’s a freeware program that can be found at evernote.com

Basically, with little effort, you can create a stream of notes based on the date of just about anything you encounter. Text, pictures, you name it. Then it’s easy to go back and find for further treatment later on. Check it out. I’ve used it a lot!

One of my favorite authors is Robert Fulghum. I don’t always agree with his philosophy, but I love his unique and postive outlook on life. His observations are at once heartwarming, funny and eye opening. Some of my favorite stories are of lost cigars, late night snacks from the refrigerator and a headstone that serves as a bench.

Many of his books are available on tape at our local library. Whenever, I need a boost, a visit with Robert does wonders. Read by the author, the books on tape have a double dose of warmth and good humor.

Fulghum has sent me on a quest for the world’s best chicken-fried steak (Current winner is at the Frontier Cafe in Kanab, Utah), opened my eyes to Zen Buddhism and Hemorroids, and taught me how to prepare Broiled Rack of Spam. How did I ever get along without him.

This guy is pretty amazing. I love his poem about the Viking Warrior. You can either read it or listen to it on his audio link.

Also his poem about what teachers make shows a depth and passion for teaching that is marvelous to behold.

He makes me want to teach and teach and teach!

Dean Koontz tipped me off to the title of this Blog. He’s among my favorite authors. I get such a kick out of some of his characters one of whom used this expression and inspired me.

I have a tendancy to be too serious about life and Carpe Crustulum reminds me to lightenup and enjoy the journey..

Hopefully, this blog will reflect that attitude and take a little lighter look at a pretty serious life.
